COLUMBUS — A new company is bringing back the local Hilltop beer brand that appeared destined for history when its original brewer closed last fall.
Hilltop Brewing Co., a new brewery formed by entrepreneur and Ohio State University graduate Blake Squires and a group of investors, announced in April it has developed a business plan to save the Hilltop Heritage Lager brand launched in 2017 by Four String Brewing Co., which closed in October. The new brewery is working with Four String founder Dan Cochran “to ensure that Hilltop remains Hilltop — from the recipe to the core brand ethos,” according to a press release.
“We constantly hear how much people miss Hilltop,” stated Squires. “It is a beer that is so approachable and consistent that it bridges the gap between those who only drink craft and those who wouldn’t otherwise.”
The goal is to have six-packs available by July 4, stated Cochran, although the beer will be previewed June 28-30 at Columbus’ Community Festival.
